I offer in-person counselling in Cardigan, Ceredigion. I also work online, meaning I offer psychotherapy locally and nationally, working with you in the safety of your own space.
Counselling is a talking therapy that deals with current problems and specific situations, such as workplace issues or relationship troubles. Often, the goals focus on action and behaviour and can usually be undertaken with short-term therapy (six to twelve weeks).
Psychotherapy is a long-term therapy focusing on chronic or recurring problems, such as past traumas, chronic illnesses that are affecting your well-being, or diagnosed mental health conditions. It's an in-depth exploration, to help you develop an awareness of your conscious and unconscious mind. It treats deeper and more structural and ingrained patterns, leading to personal growth and healing.
By offering Psychotherapy in Cardigan, I aim to create a warm and understanding space for you. Together, we'll delve into the thought and feeling patterns that cause distress.
We'll work hand-in-hand to make adjustments to your lifestyle, aiming to alleviate those symptoms of depression. Additionally, I'll provide you with practical techniques to empower and strengthen your ability for self-regulation. Your well-being is at the heart of our journey together.
I am a trauma-informed Therapist. In my clinical practice as a psychotherapist in Cardigan, I engage with unconscious material, facilitating the integration of suppressed emotions. Frequently, trauma manifests through somatic bodily sensations, leading to chronic pain and persistent suffering.
I work within the therapeutic relationship. Limiting patterns and behaviours will naturally occur within the therapeutic space, and as they do, we can explore them together from a place of open curiosity. With a non-judgmental stance, awareness grows. With mutual respect and commitment, I can help you to find new ways of relating to yourself and others.
Contact me and we can discuss your needs and arrange our first consultation therapy session to see if you think I am the counsellor for you, we can think together about how we can make the changes you want.
If you decide that you’d like to go ahead, sessions can be booked at times and on days convenient to you. Usually, sessions are booked weekly, but this can be flexible to suit you, and it doesn't have to be the same time/day each week.
